Our Mentors

TMS mentors support your success with encouragement, help optimizing your plans, troubleshooting when you hit a snag on your journey, and offering expertise and practical "know-how," and more!

HOW CAN A TMS MENTOR HELP ME?
Mentors volunteer through TMS to help mentees like you, by sharing their real-world experience and knowledge in being a successful physician. Each mentor has an area of expertise: general guidance, personal statement review, application review, or mock interviews.

WHAT CAN A TMS MENTOR NOT DO?
TMS mentors will not make decisions for you or complete tasks on your behalf. They also cannot provide medical or legal advice. However, mentors can provide clear guidance on what your options are so you can confidently make decisions and take positive action toward your own success.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN A TMS MENTORING SESSION?
Mentoring sessions are collaborative meetings between the mentee and the TMS mentor. During these sessions, you can share your career goals, progress, challenges and questions. TMS mentors will offer advice, resources, and insights so you gain clarity on your next best steps.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL MENTORING SESSION LIKE?
Mentoring sessions are typically scheduled for 30 minutes, and are held virtually, through online meetings, phone calls, and even through email exchanges. While mentoring sessions have goals and objectives, the partnership is informal and informational with your assigned mentor.

HOW LONG WILL A TMS MENTORING RELATIONSHIP LAST?
TMS mentoring relationships last as long as you need help. That can mean a few meaningful sessions to achieve a specific goal or overcome a particular challenge. Or, it can be a TMS mentoring relationship that lasts for years because the relationship was nurtured beyond the specific need.
